...BUT I’m a waitress with BA from a private liberal arts college (dubbed the “Harvard of the Midwest,” if you will :) ). Since I’ve begun my endeavor into the world of the service industry, I have realized this is not as ironic as it seems. The majority of the people I work with at a major-chain sports bar and grill also hold a college degree.
I have a full-time job during the day, and work at the restaurant some evening and weekends during major sporting events. Thus far I have been amazed at how much you can learn about human nature through the food service. I don’t want to into it too much during my first *ever* blog, but rest assured, lots of insight on shitty tippers and customers will follow!
So what else…I’m a 20-something petite blonde currently debating if I want to go to law school (I’m accepted for Fall ’08). My undergrad work was focused in biology, and I’m interested in nutrition and dietetics so further study in those areas is a possibility as well. I’m in a three year relationship with an adorable and really great guy who will be hereafter known as J. I live alone (J is a senior now at the college where we met), but in the same apt. building as a lot of my friends from school, and we basically try to live exactly like we did when we were in college. It has been said that the only thing our life is missing is a meal plan :) We live downtown in close proximity to all the bars, restaurants, the mall and right next to the law and med school so we pretty much have it made for now.
My parents and 17-yr old sister (most likely to be called Little Sis or LS for blogging purposes) live 45 min away in the small town where I grew up and went to high school. I don’t see them often enough bc of my hectic schedule and I can’t waaait to go home for the holidays. Yes, I know 45 min is nothing but my weekends in the fall are consumed by FOOTBALL! J plays on Saturday (he’s the star of the offense, seriously, like offensive player of the year the last 3 yrs), and on Sunday I’m usually exploiting drunk football fans out of their money at work. I forgot to mention the real reason I’m a part-time waitress, we make bank during football season for doing basically nothing. Sidenote--making friends w/ the hostesses and getting a section full of drunk guys telling you that you look like Britney Spears before KFed helps w/ this process. Days like that make it fun, taking shots between tables and walking with $400 for half a days work (I’m using the term lightly here) doesn’t hurt either!
Woop, welcome to my blog :)
